Talks on a devolution plan for East Yorkshire will be taking place today.
East Riding Council leaders are meeting with Government Ministers today to discuss a proposed devolution deal which could see an elected Mayor for East Yorkshire and Hull.
Councillor Leader Anne Handley says devolution should bring more money for things like transport.
Councillor Handley says today's discussion will be around what powers would be devolved to the elected Mayor.
The devolution plan would see the creation of a combined mayoral authority for the East Riding and Hull, while both councils would continue to run independently a new elected Mayor would receive devolved powers and funding from Westminster to oversee a range of policy areas across both geographic areas.
Today the leaders of both Councils will be meeting with the Minister for Levelling Up to discuss what powers could be devolved to the new Mayor.
East Riding Councillor Leo Hammond says transport will be one key area they want to talk about.
The Leader of East Riding Of Yorkshire Council - Anne Handley - has confirmed that the deal has to be right for all parties and says the East Riding is prepared to walk away from the proposal if it's felt it's not in the area's best interests.
