The Seasiders' seven-match unbeaten run was ended after a seven-goal thriller at the Mounting Systems Stadium.
Bridlington Town were beaten in a seven-goal contest despite leading at half time as Consett claimed the points at the Mounting Systems Stadium.
The Seasiders made a bright start and nearly scored inside the opening minute when Michael Coulson drove a low ball across the face of goal, but a defender managed to intervene just before Destiny could turn it home.
Brid’s pressure paid off on 17 minutes. After a corner routine, Ahmed Salam’s effort on the edge of the box was blocked and fell back to Olly Green. His return ball into the area took a touch off Destiny and dropped perfectly for Tom Allan, who finished from close range to make it 1–0.
Consett found their way back into the game on 30 minutes after a loose back pass by Joe Batty was intercepted and poked goalward. Allan raced back to the line, but couldn’t prevent the ball crossing over for the equaliser.
Brid responded well and regained the lead five minutes before the break. A cross into the box fell to Joe Batty, who sold the defender with a clever feint before calmly tucking the ball past the keeper to give the Seasiders a 2–1 half-time advantage.
The visitors turned the game around in the second half with three goals to move 4–2 ahead, the fourth arriving on 77 minutes when a loose ball dropped inside the area and was volleyed cleanly into the bottom corner.
Consett were reduced to ten men soon after following a two-footed challenge on debutant Eddie Kettlewell that resulted in an unquestionable straight red card.
Brid pushed forward late on and grabbed a goal in stoppage time when a cross was flicked on by Day into the path of Casey Stewart, who smashed home from just inside the box. It proved to be a late consolation as Consett held on for a 4–3 victory.
