On Sunday afternoon, the Scarborough and Burniston Coastguard Rescue team, along with Ravenscar Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to an injured walker at the base of the cliffs in Ravenscar.
On arrival to the scene, the teams stabilised and administered casualty care, before preparing them for extraction.
Due to the potentially hazardous route back to the top of the cliff, the decision was made to extract using the Coastguard helicopter.
Once the casualty was recovered to a place of safety they were handed over to paramedics and transferred into an ambulance. The team stood down shortly afterwards.
The team received a very kind message from the casualty the day after the incident to thank everyone for their hard work:
"A big thank you to all who attended to me on Ravenscar beach yesterday... The speed and level of service was second to none. It’s reassuring to know when one has a remote accident you are there in a flash. Thank you again and keep up the good work."
The whole team wish them a speedy recovery.
