The time has come for Lois - Ivan’s first scheduled maintenance lift out.
A relief lifeboat has arrived in Whitby to be on service while the town's new Shannon class boat, Lois Ivan, is lifted out at a nearby port for it's first general maintenance.
Lois Ivan arrived in Whitby in June and entered service in September. The new Shannon Class carries over 10,000 names on the bow, many of which were added in memory of loved ones by the donor, there are banners at the Lifeboat station featuring the Launch a Memory names which visitors to Whitby are welcome to view.
The next scheduled maintenance will take place in Whitby and will coincide with the opportunity for people to view the names up close on the lifeboat, more information on this is expected in the new year.
Meanwhile sales of Whitby Lifeboats 2024 calendar have passed the 500 mark with the town's RNLI Museum ordering a second print run which is expected to arrive in the middle of the month.
The museum team say:

Once the calendars arrive they will be available via local outlets which will be announced via Facebook. All profits go to the RNLI."
