North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue assisted a canoeist who suffered an injury in Whitby.
It happened on Thursday around 1.15pm.
The incident involved a female who had suffered a leg injury whilst getting in to a canoe.
This resulted in her becoming trapped in the canoe.
Firefighters assisted coastguard and paramedics to remove the female from the canoe using a spinal board and lifted her up the bankside to a waiting ambulance.
There is no further update on her condition currently.
