Scarborough's MP Seeking Solution to Scarborough Athletic Pitch Problems

Scarborough and Whitby MP - Alison Hume - says her job is to ask the right people the right questions as she gives her support to Scarborough Athletic after a week which saw the future of their home ground thrown in to doubt.

North Yorkshire Council revealed last Tuesday that a site survey carried out ahead of a planned resurfacing of the 3G pitch this summer had revealed "serious structural issues" with the pitch and the drainage system. the council say the issues mean the pitch wont pass an FA inspection and will need to be repaired before it can be used for competitive games next season, however the complexity and cost of the repairs mean the pitch wont be available for the start of the season. One Scarborough Councillor says he's been told by council officers the work could cost £3m and take 44 weeks to complete, that would mean the pitch being unusable for virtually all of next season.

Alison Hume MP was at yesterdays final home game of the current campaign, which saw Boro beat Darlington 1-0, speaking to This is the Coast Extra at half time the MP said it was great to see so many fans at the ground and spoke about one of the letters she has received from the clubs supporters this week.

Alison Hume says she feels there is more at stake than just the future of national league football in Scarborough.

After yesterday's final home game of the season club chairman Trevor Bull spoke to Paddy about the game and the occasion,

Yesterday's game ended with applause for the players and for the fans.

Scarborough Athletic will finish the current league campaign away at Peterborough Sports next Saturday.
