The way that social care resources are allocated in North Yorkshire needs careful consideration according to the county councils Executive Member for Adult Services.
The council has an obligation to help get patients out of hospital by putting in place any required social care within three hours of them being discharged
County Councillor Michael Harrison says getting patients out of hospital is the right thing to do but it is putting strain on resources.
Councillor Harrison says the current strain being put on North Yorkshire's Social care system by the need to help get patients out of hospital quickly is not sustainable in the long term. He says resources in the care sector are stretched at the moment and that can have impacts on the methods used to deliver the required care for patients.
