A former Whitby bank undergoing conversion to a restaurant and bar has applied for a premises licence from 8am to 3am at weekends.
The Treasury, at 4 Baxtergate, Whitby, has applied for a premises licence after recently getting the green light for its conversion to a bar, restaurant, and holiday lets.
The Grade-II listed former HSBC bank was built in 1891 and has been given a new lease of life by local businessman and lifeboat crew member Ali Hussain.
The premises licence application submitted to North Yorkshire Council requests permission for the supply of alcohol and for playing music.
If the application is granted, live and recorded music could be played on Fridays and Saturdays from 11pm to 3am.
The supply of alcohol would be permitted from Sunday to Thursday from 8am to 11pm, and Friday to Saturday from 8am to 3am.
The deadline for representations regarding the premises licence application is Thursday, November 13.
According to previously submitted plans, the renovation will include a floating mezzanine floor constructed within the former banking hall, which has a vaulted ceiling with ornate plaster mouldings.
The bank’s former strong room is also set to become a holding kitchen and cellar.
According to The Treasury’s website, its “exclusive first-floor dining area will feature a rooftop balcony overlooking the River Esk and the heart of Whitby”.
Several job openings are also currently being advertised at the business, including general manager, restaurant manager, chef, and front of house team.
