Just One Win for Yorkshire Coast Cricket Sides

It was a disappointing day for our local cricket sides as Whitby's slump continued and Bridlington were also beaten.

Kai Morris' Whitby side are still looking for their first win of 2022 in the North Yorkshire South Durham First Division.

Batting first at the Turnbull Ground, on Saturday, only two batters made double figures, with Paul Buck adding 24 and Alf Jacobs 34.

The host slumped to 105 all out with visitors Marske strolling to a seven-wicket win with only half their overs used- Tom Steyert took two wickets and Kobi Boocock one.

Bridlington were also beaten, after posting a low score batting first, in the YPN Championship.

They only had three batters in double figures as Russell Robinson made 17 and Steve Janney and wicket-keeper Sam Wragg both added 18- Brid were skittled for just 83 in less than 30 overs.

However hosts Stamford Bridge made hard work of their reply, Nathan Johnson took 5 for 43 and the home side were swaying at 50/5. But despite losing another wicket, they got home in the 17th over, by four wickets.

In the same division, Folkton & Flixton had a big win at Pickering.

It all started when the villagers won the toss and chose to bat- posting a huge century opening stand, with Will Hutchinson making 54.

Skipper Tom Norman blasted 121 from 127 balls alongside him and aided by some quickfire striking from Harry Walmsley and Cameron Anderson, the visitors posted an imposing 284/8 from their 50 overs.

Pickering were never close to their target as Charlie Colley impressed with 4 for 36 from his 12 overs and there was 4 for 55 from Elliot Hatton too. Jadon Wilson took 2 for 38 early on.

Pickering were finally bowled out for 161 in the 39th over, 123 runs short of Brid's total.

Scarborough play on Sunday this week, at North Marine Road, against Elsecar, in the Viking Cup.
