The borough's housing team say over 2,000 families have been helped.
The Scarborough Borough has a good record of tacking homelessness and affordable housing issues.
That's according to the Borough Council's Housing Manager Andrew Rowe who admits there are big issues in the borough but says they are being tackled.
The borough of Scarborough has historically faced a range of housing issues which have been made more difficult because of the coronavirus pandemic. There is a very high housing need caused by a lack of affordability, a low-income economy, high second home ownership and a shortage of social housing.
The Council says that working closely with registered providers, Homes England and other partner organisations has been central to the council’s housing success.
Andrew Rowe says the housing situation in the Scarborough Borough is getting better and despite there being big challenges in the area the borough's housing strategy is delivering results.
