North Yorkshire fire officers secured a flood in the Overdale area of Eastfield, near Scarborough, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Scarborough fire crew were called out just after 3am to a report of premises flooding due to a burst pipe.
Officers isolated the water supply and left things safely with a resident.
Earlier in the night, firemen from Whitby had attended reports of a fire at the town's Abbey, only for the goot intentioned false alarm to be caused by confusion over lighting.
