A number of bus services in Scarborough will benefit from the new scheme for under 19's.
East Riding Buses say their services in North Yorkshire will be supporting North Yorkshire Council’s brand-new Young Persons' Fare Scheme from today.
The company say:
"From Sunday, 15th September, young people aged 19 and under can travel for just £1 per single journey on bus routes across North Yorkshire.
This initiative aims to make travel more affordable and accessible for young people whether you're meeting friends, or exploring the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.
Starting on the 15th, anyone aged 19 or under can hop on a bus within North Yorkshire and pay just £1 per single journey.
Tickets can be purchased directly onboard from the driver, and you'll be required to provide proof of age to qualify for the discount."
The new scheme will operate on a number of services including:
- 7a- Scarborough to Eastfield via Seamer Road and Filey Road
- 8 - Scarborough to Barrowcliff
- 10 - Scalby to Cayton
- 20 - Scarborough to Evelyn Drive
- 81 - York to Malton, via Claxton, Sheriff Hutton and Castle Howard
- 115 - Scarborough to Ravenscar, via Selby
- 128 - Scarborough to Helmsley, via Pickering
- 194 Malton - Hovingham
