Yorkshire Coast GP Practices Among Those to Receive Modernisation Funding

17 GP practices in North Yorkshire are set to receive funding to help modernise their buildings and improve patient facilities.

The funding, announced during the government’s 2024 Spending Review, totals £102 million and will be shared across England. The aim is to improve the use of space and infrastructure at GP practices, so more patients can be seen in better surroundings.

While the money's not new, this week the government published the full list of the GP practices that will benefit.

The following 17 GP practices in North Yorkshire are set to benefit from the improvement funding:

  • Beech House Surgery – Knaresborough
  • Castle Health Centre – Scarborough
  • Church Avenue Medical Group – Harrogate
  • Derwent Practice – Malton
  • Dr Akester & Partners – Kirkby Malzeard, Ripon
  • Eastgate Medical Centre – Knaresborough
  • The Friary Surgery – Richmond
  • Great Ayton Health Centre – Great Ayton
  • Hunmanby Surgery – Hunmanby
  • Mayford House Surgery – Northallerton
  • Mowbray Group Practice – Northallerton and Hutton Rudby
  • Park Parade Surgery – Harrogate
  • Pickering Medical Practice – Pickering
  • Stillington Surgery – Stillington
  • Stockwell Road Surgery – Knaresborough
  • Thirsk Doctors Surgery – Thirsk
  • Dyneley House Surgery – Skipton

Bridlington Medical Centre in East Yorkshire is also included in the government's list.

Ashley Green, Chief Executive Officer, Healthwatch North Yorkshire said:

“We welcome this investment in GP practices across North Yorkshire. People often tell us about the importance of accessible, well-equipped services close to home. We hope this funding leads to improvements that make a real difference to patients and practice staff alike.”

The funding is being distributed by NHS Integrated Care Boards, the organisations responsible for planning and funding health services in local areas.
