Yorkshire Coast Football Managers Say Season End Was Correct

Management at Whitby Town and Scarborough Athletic are in agreement that the vote to end the football season at their level was the right call.

Scarborough Athletic manager Darren Kelly and Whitby Town joint-boss Lee Bullock have agreed the decision to end their seasons early was the right one. The vote which includes steps 3 to 6 of the non-League system in England, also affects Bridlington Town. 

Bullock feels it would be impossible to carry on without supporters in grounds. He's missing having fans at games:

Town announced that they will return to action in the summer with the Whitby Town Community Cup. The four-team tournament will see the Blues' first team joined by local clubs Fishburn Park, Sleights and Whitby Fishermens Society. The competition will take place at the Seasiders' Towbar Express Stadium and they are currently looking for sponsors.

Meanwhile, Kelly has repeatedly called for clarification from football's governing bodies. While the decision does need to be ratified by the Football Association, there is a three-quarters majority for the premature finish. The Boro chief says it makes things easier ahead of the new Northern Premier League season, which can hopefully start in August:

Bridlington Town's Northern Counties East League has also been ended early under the plans. However, the Prime Minister's road map for recovery from the national lockdown did allow grassroots clubs, including those in the Scarborough Football League, to restart, if they choose to do so, from 29th March.
