Yorkshire Coast Cricket Round-up

There were big wins for Driffield, Scarborough, Folkton & Flixton and Malton.

Driffield Town stunned highflying York to close the gap on the Yorkshire Premier North top three.

The hosts chose to bat first at Clifton Park, but were soon regretting that decision as Nick Hardgrave took 4/26 and James Anson 3/50 with York skittled for just 162 in the penultimate over.

Elliot Hatton then starred with an unbeaten 53 as Town made short work of their hosts, reaching their target with 16 overs and seven wickets to spare.

Bridlington's slump in Premier 2 continued with a six-wicket loss at Stamford Bridge.

Led by wicket-keeper Sam Wragg's 76, Brid batted first and made 210/8 from their 50 overs.

Bridge got home with 9 balls and six wickets to spare, despite Casey Rudd's 2/45.

Resurgent Folkton & Flixton stay bottom but they've closed the gap on Harrogate Seconds with another victory.

After choosing to bat first, the villagers made 240/6 from their 50 overs, with Ed Hopper making 59 not out.

Three wickets each for Harry Walmsley and Ombesha Matsha then restricted Acomb to 207/9 and secured a 33-run win.

Pickering are off the top of Championship East after losing to new leaders Welton.

Welton batted first and posted 279/7 from their 50 overs with Kieran Bowes taking 3/62.

Bowes then top-scored with the bat after blasting 54 but Pickering were skittled in the 40th over to lose by 104 runs.

Scarborough are part of the chasing pack with a 51-run victory at struggling Sutton-on-Hull.

Boro chose to bat first and Ben Squires carried his bat with an unbeaten 121 as the visitors posted 234/8 from 50 overs.

Brad Milburn added 56 as the away side impressed.

Squires and Archie Hammond then took three wickets each as Sutton were bowled out for 183 in the 41st over.

In-form Malton & Old Malton remain in the shake-up after a seven-wicket win over South Holderness.

Holderness posted an impressive 281/2 from their 50 overs, but Malton successfully chased as Shaun Harland carried his bat for 135.

Malton won by seven wickets with 26 balls to spare.

Whitby had a winning draw after batting first at Marton in North Yorkshire South Durham Division Two.

After choosing to bat first, Theo Clarke made 75 and Rhys Buck 58 as Whitby posted 274 all out in the 48th over.

Marton then closed om 238/8 with Mark Jackson taking 4/60 and Craig Thompson 3/53.
