There are TWO Weather Warnings for the Yorkshire Coast with 70mph wind gusts along the coast and 60mm of rain on the North York Moors
Along with the wind and rain warnings, 5m high waves will be rolling ashore, according to the forecast from windy.com.
The Yorkshire Coast had a lull in the winds, but only because the calm 'eye of the storm' was over the area.
Wind speeds are expected to increase significantly over the next few hours.
The Yellow Met Office Warning for wind is for the whole Yorkshire Coast and reads:
Storm Darragh could bring a period of strong winds to much of the warning area. The strongest winds are likely as the system clears away on Saturday and overnight into early Sunday, when northerly winds may gust to 65 to 70mph . The wind may cause disruption to travel and affect some infrastructure such as power lines.
The updated Yellow Warning for Rain covers the North York Moors and reads:
Storm Darragh will bring further outbreaks of rain on Saturday, which are likely to become heavier and more persistent through the day, then last overnight and in to the start of Sunday, before clearing away to the south later. 20-25mm is likely to fall quite widely, with 40 to 60mm falling over high ground of the Cheviots, Pennines and North York Moors.
There is a Flood Alert in force for the North Sea coast from Staithes to Whitby including the tidal River Esk:
This flood alert has been issued due to the combination of strong onshore winds and low pressure conditions on the coast today, Saturday 07/12/2024. Flooding of low-lying land, promenades and roads is possible between 9:00pm on Saturday and 0:30am on Sunday 08/12/2024. Areas most at risk include the North Sea coast from Whitby to Filey, including Scarborough. We will continue to monitor levels closely. Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous. This message will be updated by 11:30pm on Saturday 07/12/2024, or as the situation changes.

A number of events have been cancelled including the Fishtive Tree light switch on and fireworks display in Filey this evening.
The Rotunda Museum, Scarborough Art Gallery and Woodend are closed today too.
The Aquarium Of Light event at Scarborough Spa is also cancelled this evening. People who have bough tickets will be contacted directly.
Scarborough Fair posted this message:
Please be mindful of the weather if you are going out to see any of the Scarborough Lights, be sure to wrap up warm and keep safe.
Whitby & Bridlington Markets have also been cancelled.
Bridlington Town and Pickering Town's matches are also off.
