Sky News are reporting that the Langdale fire's led to the evacuation of the Woodsmith Mine, near Whitby.
They say the owners of the Woodsmith site say only a skeleton crew remain underground while the emergency services tackle flames nearby.
The fire at Langdale Moor, close to RAF Fylingdales, has forced road closures and warnings from authorities for people to stay away.
Reports have warned that the fire is getting close to the A171 Whitby to Scarborough with numerous closures due to heavy smoke.
