The Blues host Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday night with Lee Bullock and Jason Kennedy set to lead the side jointly for the first time.
Saturday's scheduled home clash with Ashton United was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Towbar Express Stadium.
Kennedy and Bullock succeeded Gary Liddle, who joined Hartlepool United as their assistant manager.
Bullock says Saturday's match being off enabled an extra ad-hoc training session for his side:
" Yes, it's given me a good opportunity to have a good look at them. So I've taken three sessions now, I've had the Tuesday, the Thursday and an impromptu one [on Saturday], so there's a chance to have a look at them and see what we've worked on Tuesday, Thursday. See if it came into action in 9 v 9.
"Sometimes the risk of them training games is they just turn 5 aside and it's unrealistic, but for half an hour or so, it was a decent tempo and it was quite good to watch, so it was beneficial. Obviously we'd rather have got a league game out the way, but at least we haven't wasted a Saturday morning."
The former Bradford City star was joint manager, alongside Nathan Haslam and also worked under Chris Hardy.
Bullock admits he did look at other results in NPL Premier over the weekend:
"Yeah, I've had a little look. I think it went all right for us, but I don't really get involved in opposition. It's too early, we've got games in hand, to start wondering what others are doing. You forget about yourself. We just need to get our house in order. We need to get a couple of wins quickly on the board, and suddenly it's a whole different outlook.
"Obviously if you don't get your own stuff done, you start relying on others and that's the absolute last thing we want. I'd be lying if [I said] we didn't have a little look. But more importantly, it's how we do what we do. If we get the points on the board with the games in hand, it's irrelevant, if we don't, yeah, then we're starting to worry about it."
Bullock's looking forward to seeing familiar faces at Tuesday's home clash:
"Yeah yeah, from that side of it, a hundred percent. The game side of it, it's no different. It's a game of football that we've got to go out and try and get three points. We've got to put into place what we've done in the last few sessions. We will be able to talk about it before the game, but then come Tuesday night, we're looking for an improved home performance.
"Really there's no hiding behind that. We need to get, start getting some more points on the board at the Towbar. I think I'm spending more time studying weather forecasts at the minute than opposition. And everyone's in the same boat at the minute. It's an absolute nightmare. But hopefully for everyone's sake, we can get out there, Tuesday night and get a game of football on."
