Whitby Town Win Big Over Warrington

Dominant Blues continue unbeaten start after demolishing Cheshire visitors.

A powerful Whitby performance was too much for a depleted Warrington Town side.

Early on, Matty Tymon laid off for Layton Watts, on six minutes, but his outside of the boot effort was charged down.

Watts then returned the favour on 13 minutes as he squared for Tymon to slot home.

Michael Woods then rattled the post with a half-volley from distance after running onto a long ball. Just after the half hour, Warrington's keeper spilled Donald Chimalillo's low effort but no-one in blue was there to profit. Chimalillo then slalomed through and set up Watts to slice over.

Within moments of the second half starting, Woods' snapshot was blocked, but Chimalillo's ran in and despatched the loose ball.

Eight minutes later, Watts' floated free-kick was poked past the on-rushing Stowell for 3-0.

Watts clipped over the top before Shane Bland saved well at the other end. Watts eventually got on the scoresheet himself, ten minutes from time. After starting the move himself, Watts tapped home Connor Smith's driven right-wing cross at the far post. Chimalillo hurdled a number of challenges before striking straight at the Warrington keeper late on.

Speaking to Whitby Town TV, manager Gary Liddle said it was a deserved win:

Blues are back in action on Tuesday night, at FC United of Manchester, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
