Whitby Town Football Club has announced the cancellation of this Saturday's charity match against Inter Legends FC.
The game between a Seasiders' squad and the fundraising side Inter Legends was due to take place on Saturday, 3rd May, however the decision has been made to cancel the match.
This is due to Whitby Town being unable to field enough players to fulfil a starting XI and ample substitutes.
Following discussions between Whitby Town's Chief Executive Officer, Scott Booth, and Harry Dunn, manager of the Whitby Town XI, it has been decided that the match simply can't go ahead as planned.
The club has apologised "for any disappointment caused ahead of what was set to be a fun-filled day at the Towbar Express Stadium".
It says that anyone who purchased tickets in advance will be refunded automatically in the next 7 business days.
CEO Scott Booth has thanked fans for their support throughout the season saying:
"The town have been very supportive of the club so far this year, and we've been lucky in the respect of being able to stay up under the management of Gary Little.
We'd like to thank all the team and I'd especially like to thank all of the supporters and volunteers for everything that they've done in this season.
We hope everyone has a fantastic bank holiday weekend, and if anybody has any questions that we would like clarifying, then please don't hesitate to contact myself, Scott Booth at the club."
