Whitby Town are in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup for the first time in twenty years.
Town saw off National League South Side Chelmsford City in their 4th qualifying round replay at the Towbar Express Stadium last night.
Whitby now face a trip to League One side Bristol Rovers in the first round proper.
Whitby opened the scoring after 34 minutes when Jacob Gratton found the back of the net from a Junior Mondal pass.
Just five minutes later Gratton returned the favour crossing the ball across the goal for Junior Mondal to tap home and give Town a 2-0 lead before half time.
In the second half Mo Bettamer scored a close range effort for Chelmsford in the 75th minute to make it 2-1.
After a nervous spell for the Whitby fans, Junior Mondal added his second of the game to give Town a 3-1 lead and a few minutes later the victory.
The win nets Whitby £9,375 in prize money and that trip to Bristol Rovers where the winners will pick up £41,000. The first round fixtures will be held between Friday 3 and Monday 6 November.
