Whitby Harbour to See Major Improvements in 2025

Plans are underway to carry out significant improvement works at Whitby Harbour in 2025, according to North Yorkshire Council Head of Harbour, Chris Bourne.

The projects will focus on key areas of the harbour, with a particular emphasis on Eskside Wharf and Fish Quay.

Here's Chris, with more:

  • Eskside Wharf: The project aims to replace the existing piles around the Parkol tenanted area with new ones. This is intended to allow the tenants to expand their boat building business and increase their capacity.
  • Fish Quay: A structural inspection of the piles underneath the Fish Quay has been carried out and has thankfully revealed no major areas of concern. The main areas needing attention are the timbering and fendering, which are scheduled for improvement.

While the structural integrity of the piles beneath the Fish Quay is not a major concern, Councillor Phil Trumper has highlighted that the building itself is in a terrible state of repair:
