Local representatives say the town's fishing industry was pleased by the outcome of a committee hearing into mass shellfish deaths but remains concerned about dredging.
The organisation representing Whitby Fishermen says it was pleased with the response from the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs committee following last month's hearing into the shellfish mortality event.
Joe Redfearn from the Whitby commercial Fishing Association says they were pleased with the actions of committee chair - Scarborough and Whitby MP Robert Goodwill - and the letter he sent to the Secretary of State.

The letter to the Secretary of state called for dredging operations in the River Tees to be reviewed after academics from Newcastle University presented evidence to the EFRA committee suggesting that dredging in the Tees could have been the cause of last year's shellfish mortality event off the North East Coast.
Joe Redfearn says the worry is that continued dredging might lead to another event.
