It's hoped that a new cycle track in Whitby will be able to be extended in the future.
A new shared cycle track and footpath is to be built between the park and ride and the four lane ends roundabout using money from the governments active travel fund.
Keisha Moore is a transport planner with North Yorkshire County Council and says public feedback on the scheme asked why the new path didn't go further into the town.
There have also been concerns raised that the new active travel corridor might have a detrimental effect on the towns park and ride.
The town's mayor Linda Wilde has suggested that cyclists might use the park and ride car park for free before heading off on bikes putting pressure on car park spaces for people trying to use the park and ride bus service.
Keisha Moore doesn't think that will be a problem.
