Whitby's cricketers continued their winning run to rise to fourth in North Yorkshire South Durham Division One.
Kai Morris' men won the toss and chose to field first, at the Turnbull Ground, against Bishop Auckland. They soon had their visitors in trouble at 21/2, thanks to wickets from Fin Morris and Kobie Boocock. But the key scalp was Aussie pro Nathan Rimmington as Bishops subsided to 48/3. The County Durham outfit eventually succumbed on 157. Morris took 4 for 46 and Tom Steyert 3/43. However, Rimmington took all three wickets as Whitby faltered at 52/3 in reply. Enter Paul Buck who hit a match-winning 56 not out to steer his side home by six wickets. Whitby are now up to fourth in North Yorkshire South Durham Division One.
Scarborough suffered a losing draw at North Marine Road in Yorkshire Premier North. Visitors Woodhouse Grange raced to 122/1, but Pat Roberts' men squeezed them for runs late on and they eventually posted 223/6 from their 50 overs, with Zimbabwean all-rounder Piet Rinke taking 4/50. The hosts started their response strongly- at one point, they were 104/1, then 160/3 but fell away to 204/9. They batted out their 50 overs, but ended up 19 runs short. Breidyn Schaper top scored with 72 and Oliver Stephenson made 48. Scarborough remain third in the table.
Folkton and Flixton are also third, in the York & District Premier, after a losing draw at Whitkirk. 14-year-old Calum Hatton took 3/56 on debut, with brother Elliot picking up 3/46 and Connor Stephenson 3/50 as Whitkirk were skittled for 211, in 48 overs. That gave the villagers an extra two overs to reach their target. They looked well set at 187/5, but Jake Hatton was run out for 63 and Will Norman dismissed for 41 and they fell agonisingly five runs short.
Bridlington did win, however, in Division One East, they are also third after bowling Beverley Town Seconds out for 224 at Dukes Park. A thrilling chase then saw Brid edge home in the final over, by three wickets.
