“We Just Cannot Imagine a Life Without Nick in it”

The family of a man who tragically died in a collision in Scarborough shortly after 9pm on Friday 31 October has paid tribute to their “beloved son, dad, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend.”

He has today been named as Nick Alves, 38, from Scarborough.

He was pronounced dead at the scene following a single-vehicle collision on Scalby Road, Scarborough, involving a brown Honda Jazz which struck street furniture.

In a heartfelt tribute, his family have said:

“We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved son, dad, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend. We simply cannot imagine life without Nick in it.

“Nick joined the Navy straight after leaving school and travelled the world, meeting incredible people and experiencing amazing places. After leaving the Navy, he settled in Scarborough to be close to his family.

“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to those who helped and stayed with Nick so that he was not alone in his final moments. Words cannot describe how much that kindness meant to us.”

North Yorkshire Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses following the collision.

Officers said:

"Our thoughts remain with his loved ones at this very difficult time.

If you saw the incident, or have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, please get in touch if officers have not already spoken to you.

Please email mcit@northyorkshire.police.uk or call North Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 12250206165."
