Warm Banks Could be Coming to the Yorkshire Coast

Efforts to tackle the effects of the energy crisis could see Warm Banks opened on the Yorkshire Coast.

Scarborough Borough Council is looking at ways of enabling people to come together in communal locations so that they can keep warm while not having to heat their own home all the time.

Councillor Bill Chatt has asked fellow councillors to take a look at the idea.

A number of local authorities around the country have said they are also looking at setting up Warm Banks, some plan to use council buildings such as libraries and museums as locations for the warm banks, but other's are looking a plans that would work in conjunction with local charities and community groups.

Scarborough Borough Council says it is exploring the idea.

Councillor Carl Maw says there is some funding available, and they are talking to potential partner organisations.
