The Yellow Weather Warning for thunderstorms is in force from midday today until 9:00pm tonight and covers the whole Yorkshire Coast.
The Met Office say many areas will miss the heaviest downpours, but those which do catch them could see 30-40mm of rain alongside lightning and hail:
While many areas will miss the heaviest downpours, heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop during Friday afternoon and evening. The focus of showers and thunderstorms over will be northern England and much of Wales during the early afternoon before extending over central and eastern England through the afternoon. Thunderstorms will bring 10-20 mm of rain in a short period in a few places with 30-40 mm possible should anywhere see repeated downpours. Lightning and hail will be additional hazards in a few locations. Heavy showers and thunderstorms will gradually ease during Friday evening.
Yorkshire are playing Leicestershire in Day 2 of the County Cricket match at North Marine Road in Scarborough. It's also a fundraiser for Saint Catherine's Hospice.
Ground staff have been working since 7am and hope to have play by lunchtime.
If there are less than 20 overs, fans can keep their tickets and use them again for a future match, or even Day 3 or 4 of this match.
We have regular weather and travel updates on This Is The Coast throughout the day.
