The Scarborough Borough has tough choices to make over the future of it's open spaces as demand for affordable housing in the borough continues to increase.
Councillors this week approved the next stage of it's "Better Homes" project which will see the creation of a joint venture company to build new homes on council land, much of which is currently open space.
Hunmanby councillor Michelle Donohue Moncrieff says one local resident told her about the problems he faces finding a home for his family.
Working families are struggling to buy or rent affordable housing in the Scarborough Borough.
That's the message borough councillors heard this week as they approved the next stage of the Council's better homes project.
The scheme has generated hundreds of comments, many about the potential loss of open space in the borough.
