There are trecherous driving conditions on many roads along the coast, with accidents reported on the A171 either side of Whitby.
A Yellow Weather Warning for snow is in place for the whole Yorkshire Coast until early this afternoon with 1-3cm likely at low levels and up to 7cm on high ground.
Snow has been falling since the early hours of this morning.
There are reports of cars getting into difficulty on the A171 Guisborough Road west of Whitby and also between Whitby and Scarborough in the Hawsker area.
The A169 is trecherous in the Sleights area. This was the Hole Of Horcum at 7:30am:

The A165 between Scarborough and Bridlington and between Bridlington and Beeford is very slow going, especially on the Wolds between Reighton and Bridlington.
Also tricky is the A64 between Scarborough and Ganton.

Trains appear to be unnafected so far this morning with services leaving on time locally.
Headlands School in Bridlington is closed.
Barrowcliff School's Nursery is closed but the rest of the school remains open.
Coastliner buses are not serving Ruswarp and Goathland:
Due to poor road conditions Coastliner 840 is unable to serve Goathland & Ruswarp in both directions until further notice.

The Met Office say the weather should improve this afternoon. The cold snap will end this weekend with mild, wet and windy weather for Saturday and Sunday.

At just before 11am North Yorkshire Police said they were dealing with "several road traffic collisions" in Whitby and Scarborough.
