The British Divers Marine Life Rescue attended to the seal yesterday.
The BDMLR provide assistance to any aquatic animal in need of help.
They have a network of trained specialist marine mammal medics around the country including on the Yorkshire Coast.
The organisation says that it's Whitby medic was called out yesterday after reports of a member of public kicking a seal and setting their dogs on to it near the pier.
The medic checked the seal over and relocated it to a quieter location.
Sally Bunce captured video footage of the seal.
Another early start for our medic in Whitby today after responding to reports of a member of public kicking the seal and setting his dogs on to it near the pier. Our medic checked it over and relocated it to a quieter location

The BDMLR teams use an array of specialist rescue and PPE equipment to facilitate the rescue and release of animals from mammals (seals and cetaceans, and the odd otter) plus turtles and even fish.
BDMLR says it attempts to attend all call outs it receives whether that is simply checking a seal reported by a member of the public to a full blown environmental disaster such as an oil spill. It has medics and various pieces of specialised equipment located around the UK coast and works with rehabilitation centres and experts in many fields of animal rescue.
