School Covid Guidelines Ramped Up As Figures Stay High in North Yorks

Schools in North Yorkshire have been given updated guidance on managing COVID 19 in their settings.

The advice was sent to head teachers last week as the infection rate in the county remains high with most transmission occurring in school age children.

Maximising classroom provision is a priority for the local authority.

Ian Yapp is a member of the County Council's outbreak management advisory board and Chief Education Officer of the STAR Multi-Academy Trust:

With the COVID infection rate in North Yorkshire remaining well above the national average, new advice has been sent to schools in the county asking them to think carefully about the measures they are taking to control the spread.

Headteachers are being asked to possibly limit the number of school trips and the number of people coming in to school buildings.
