A solid defensive performance was rewarded with a late winner for Scarborough against a side they failed to beat at four attempts last season.
Curzon Ashston got the better of Scarborough in the league and cup last season, but last night Scarborough brought home all 3 points in a tight and entertaining game away from home.
Both teams had chances in a very open match, Curzon with the majority of those chances in the first half, but keeper Joe Cracknell on his 100th appearance for Scarborough made some top quality saves to keep it 0-0.
There were goal line clearances at both ends and both sides hit the woodwork.
As the game went on it felt like sooner or later someone would score and perhaps nick the win. Thankfully for the seadogs, it was Boro who got the goal; a corner headed in by captain Will Thornton on 81 minutes. Thornton impressed at the back all night.
