A special Zoom session for parents all about post 16 apprenticeships is being help at 4pm today.
The 11th Scarborough Science and Engineering week is taking place this week and for the first time ever it's an entirely digital event.
Normally school's from along the coast would attend workshops and exhibitions, this year the events are being delivered to them in the form of classroom video sessions and live interaction with leading businesses and organisations.
Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire Jo Ropner who is patron of Scarborough Science & Engineering Week said..
“We are determined to ensure that the Covid virus does not affect the success of an event which has attracted more than 33,300 young people over the past decade,”
“This very important event is supported by businesses and education providers for young people aged from four to nineteen, and is designed to show how science, technology, engineering and mathematics make a difference in the real world."
“It inspires students to consider the exciting opportunities that studying and working in those STEM subjects can open up to them.”
Later today (at 4pm) there will be a special zoom session for pupils and parents to learn about post 16 apprenticeships.

The Science & Engineering Week showcase is supported by the North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership (NYBEP) and has become the widest platform of hi-tech businesses and manufacturers in the area. It was started by Unison, the international and award-winning Scarborough engineering company.
All the usual exhibitors have come together to provide materials to support maintaining the visibility of the event during coronavirus.Some exhibitors have offered to provide a classroom session virtually – with speakers and Q&A panels, as well as impartial information sessions on apprenticeships.
Among the leading supporters is the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
A spokesman said:
“We are delighted to again give our support to this event and especially this year which has seen such challenges for young people.
“It is crucial that we work together to show what brilliant and vital career opportunities exist in creating the engineers, designers, skilled apprentices and inspired trainees for tomorrow’s world.
“We need to reduce the skills gap and encourage growth and this event is one of many that helps towards that goal.”
