Irton Garden Centre has donated Christmas gifts to local charities, schools and hospitals in Scarborough this week.
During this festive period, Irton Garden Centre has been running their annual Santa's grotto experience for children of all ages, providing the children with gifts from Santa during their visit.
The garden centre has seen a huge influx of children visiting the experience; however, they had found themselves with more gifts than needed.
Ricky Nock from the garden centre said they decided to use the gifts to support local organisations.
The excess gifts have been donated to The Rainbow Centre, St Catherine’s, Scarborough hospital children’s ward, the shoebox appeal and multiple schools in the area.
The team at Scarborough's Rainbow centre have distributed over one thousand gift packages to local families in the run up to Christmas.
This week they took delivery of the surplus presents from Irton Garden Centre's grotto.
The Rainbow Centre team say all the donations from the public over the past few weeks have been greatly appreciated.
A spokesperson for The Rainbow Centre Scarborough said
“For Christmas we’ve been giving food vouchers and presents to homeless and vulnerable people in the region.
The amount of generosity we’ve seen from people donating to us is incredible so thank you to everybody and a big thank you to the garden centre, for giving us these presents.”
