Whitby were well-beaten in their A174 derby at Redcar, in Durham & Northumberland Division Two.
They were unable to build on last week's win over Sedgefield after a 57-12 defeat at their rivals.
Scarborough, however, won a thriller game of rugby at Hollow Drift.
The visitors got off to a flyer racing into a 12-0 lead, inside the first 15 minutes. However, hosts Durham turned things around to go 14-12 up at half-time.
The home side were again leading, 28-24, going into the final minute. There was a scrum 10 metres from the Durham line. Tom Ratcliffe won the ball and ploughed through the home defence before releasing and Aaron Wilson to go over for the try, though it wasn't converted.
