A Scarborough councillor has called on the town's MP to assist farmers who may be targeted by HMRC.
It's after they used red diesel while battling the Langdale fire.
Alison Hume was asked by David Jeffels if she can do anything to help:
"My information is that some of them have been hauled over the coals for using red diesel, which I believe strictly speaking can only be used for agricultural purposes, and they now find themselves in difficulties with HMRC on that one. You may not be able to answer that today, but if you could take it on board."
Scarborough & Whitby's MP gave this response:
"You raised a very good point about the red diesel and I'll certainly take that away. My conversations, obviously the fires, the fire response to the fires been run by the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, and the local resilience forum of which North Yorkshire Council is the leading body. I have nothing at all to do with.
"I do want to advocate on behalf of my constituent farmers and I will take that away, so thank you for that."
