Care homes in Scarborough have been recommissioned to provide beds for patients who have been discharged from hospital.
The idea is to relieve pressure on hospitals by getting people discharged as soon as possible.
Wendy Balmain if from the North Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group, she says the discharge scheme has been extended after the announcement of new government cash last week.
Wendy Balmain says it's not just hospitals that remain under pressure.
Wendy says the frustration of long telephone waits felt by patients trying to get GP appointment in the Scarborough Borough are also being felt by those working at the practices.
Responding to claims that some patients are waiting over an hour on the phone to get through to their surgery, Wendy says doctors and practice staff are doing their best.
