178 Fines have been issued across Scarborough, Whitby and Filey in the space of a month.
Thirty five thousand Pound worth of COVID fine have been issued in the Scarborough Borough in the space of a month.
Superintendent Mike Walker from North Yorkshire Police says that while the vast majority of people did stick to the rules during the national lockdown, the number of fines that had to be issued was large.
Superintendent Walker says the majority of the fines were issued to people who ignored the call to stay at home during the lockdown period
North Yorkshire Police say the force will continue to issue fixed penalty notices to people breaking the current Tier 2 rules which are in force in the county.
