Scarborough’s coronavirus rate has jumped up following 24 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
The borough had been averaging 29 positive tests a week before yesterday, with 24 cases being the most in one day since early February.
Scarborough’s seven day infection rate per 100,000 people remains the lowest in the county but has climbed to 36 from 27.
Selby has the highest rate in North Yorkshire at 163 ahead of Richmondshire on 151.
The rate for England as a whole is 112 while North Yorkshire’s average is up to 93.

Earlier this week, Amanda Bloor, accountable officer for North Yorkshire NHS Clinical Commissioning Group told a meeting of North Yorkshire’s Local Resilience Forum that getting both doses of the vaccine was crucial in the fight against the pandemic.
She said:
“We can see from the numbers in our communities and from the numbers of patients in hospitals that the most effective weapon against Covid is to have a vaccine and have two doses.
“It may not prevent you from getting the disease itself but it will prevent you from becoming seriously unwell and potentially requiring hospital treatment and stay in hospital.”
Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this weekend for anyone with symptoms to get tested.

William Street Coach Park in Scarborough is also still offering testing seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.
