Efforts to increase the number of wheelchair friendly taxi's in the Scarborough Borough are to continue.
The number of taxi's that can accommodate wheelchair users needs to be expanded in the Scarborough borough.
That view is shared by the Borough Council, the taxi trade and local disability action groups.
Councillor Michelle Donohue-Moncrieff says the borough's new Taxi and Private Hire policy has implemented a number of steps to help increase the number of accessible vehicles currently in service which she says are under enormous pressure.
The council's new taxi licencing policy is trying to encourage more drivers to use accessible vehicles.
Councillor Donohue Moncrieff says the trade, the council and local disability action groups are working together on the issue.
