Cooplands Bakery have partnered with the Yorkshire born Brewery, Wold Top, to launch their new Steak & Ale Pie, using the ale produced by Wold Top.
Originally a small pork butcher and pie shop in Scarborough in 1885, Cooplands now operates over 180 shops across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the North East and is the UK’s second largest bakery chain.
They've now teamed up with Yorkshire Coast Brewer, Wold Top, to create a new steak and ale pie which will sold in all Cooplands shops.
Wold Top is a family run business based in Wold Newton. Back in 2003, the family were looking at different ways to sustain the family farm with diversification and hit on brewing beer as their solution!
The ale being used in the pies is made with home grown barley malt and Northdown hops.
Cooplands say that the pie filling is made by simmering chunks of beef in the Wold Top ale and beef stock until tender, developing a sauce that is tasty, rich and flavoursome. The filling is encased in Cooplands very own shortcrust pastry recipe and then baked fresh in shop.
Emily Chatwin, New Product Development Manager at Cooplands commented,
“We’re excited to have partnered with a local Brewery, Wold Top,and be bringing two Yorkshire brands together in the launch of our new Steak & Ale Pie.”
Wold Top Brewery also commented,
“We are delighted to have collaborated with Cooplands, using Wold Top Bitter in the new Steak and Ale Pie. Our vision at Wold Top Brewery is simple; to make great tasting beer, using home grown, sustainably sourced ingredients.”
