Scarborough Athletic Leave It Late in County Durham

Boro had Richie Bennett to thank for a late point, at Spennymoor, on Good Friday.

Nearly 250 Seadogs supporters made the trip to County Durham for what was Alex Purver's 100th appearance in a Scarborough shirt.

Will Thornton blocked brilliantly early on in a fixture that has often ended in stalemate.

The Moors had an effort ruled out for offside seven minutes before the break.

The men in black and white, who reached the FA Trophy Final earlier this month, still have a play-off shot in National North.

Lewis Maloney came close before the hosts led with 20 minutes left.

However, Boro blunted their ambitions as Bennett pounced a minute from time.

Boro's home clash with Darlington on Easter Monday is set to go ahead despite issues with their Scarborough Sports Village ground.
