Boro defeated league rivals Farsley Celtic 3-0 in an Emirates FA Cup 2nd qualifying round replay at the Flamingo Land Stadium last night.
Lewis Maloney delivered two goals to help seal the victory for Boro and a place in the third qualifying round later in the month which will see Boro travel to Darlington.
Both teams made multiple changes for last nights match from their previous 1-1 draw, with notable inclusions for Coulson, Green, and Thornton in the Boro lineup, while Farsley introduced 16-year-old Academy player Ebenezer Ameho for the first time, as they were missing some injured players.
In the first half, Boro dominated possession but didn't truly challenge Farsley's goalkeeper. However, Maloney's exceptional 30-yard free-kick just before halftime gave Boro the lead.
Farsley's defense, led by Tom Allan and captain Chris Atkinson, held firm, but they struggled to threaten Boro's goal. Jordan Carroll's second yellow card led to his dismissal, and immediately after, Boro extended their lead when Maloney set up Alex Wiles for a goal.
In the final 20 minutes, Boro continued to dominate, with chances from Dom Tear and a disallowed goal from Maloney's cross. The third goal came from Maloney, who scored another sensational 30-yard shot. Boro comfortably progressed to the next round of the FA Cup, with goalkeeper Joe Cracknell making some crucial saves along the way.
Boro Manager, Jono Greening spoke to Scarborough athletic TV after the match.
