Scarborough Athletic Chair Calls for Show of Support at Final Home Game

Scarborough Athletic Chairman Trevor Bull has issued a strong call to supporters to attend the club's final home game of the season against Darlington today, as the club faces uncertainty about the start of next season.

Today's final home match of the current campaign comes at a critical time for the fan-owned community football club, which is facing a "potentially life threatening" situation due to uncertainty over the availability of their home ground at the Scarborough Sports Village for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

The club learned on Monday about a serious structural problems with the North Yorkshire Council-owned pitch. Initial information suggested the pitch might be unavailable for the first few games of next season, but the situation escalated within 24 hours, with the council unable to confirm when the pitch would be usable or when repair work could begin.

Despite the setback, Trevor Bull has acknowledged the "overwhelming support" the club has received. This includes contact from local politicians like Allison Hume MP, who has offered her assistance and intends to attend the final home game.

In an emotional interview with This is the Coast, Trevor Bull said the club has invested a lot of time, and money in the stadium, he called for as many people as possible to turn up for today's game to show the level of support there is for the club in the town.

The Board of Directors of Scarborough Athletic FC has assured its stakeholders of their commitment to working with all parties to minimise the impact of this news.

Trevor says a good crowd today would demonstrate to the decision makers how important the club is to the local community.

Kick-off at Scarborough Sports Village is 1pm.
