
Scarborough Athletic and Bridlington Town will be battling it out tonight in the annual Dave Holland memorial match at the Mounting Systems Stadium.
The game is played in memory of Scarborough's former chairman who was instrumental in the clubs creation and forged the relationship that saw Boro play their first decade of fixtures in Bridlington.
Scarborough Chairman - Trevor Bull - says the current ground situation, which will see Boro play their home games in Bridlington this season as repairs are carried out to the Scarborough Sports Village Pitch, makes tonight's game more poignant.
"First and foremost , it is to remember Dave, of course, for all the work that he did for the club and also to thank Bridlington for the 10 years that we shared with them previously.
And also I hope to turn up in numbers and thank them for giving us this lifeline this season because without that lifeline we'd be absolutely scuppered, so please turn up and support the match and support Bridlington.
And if you've never been before, I think you'll be quite surprised what a nice ground it is. And for people that did spend 10 years going there, there's been a lot of upgrades, a lot of upgrades since we last played there"
For Scarborough Athletic the Mounting Systems Stadium will become their "home away from home" this season.
Bridlington Town agreed to a ground share arrangement with Boro after surveys at the Scarborough Sports Village stadium uncovered serious structural issues with the 3G pitch which are going to take upwards of 40 weeks to fix.
Significant upgrades have been made to the Mounting Systems Stadium on Queensgate to meet the leagues standards required for Scarborough to play fixtures at the ground.
Boro Chairman, Trevor Bull, is calling on fans to turn out for tonight's game to show their support both for the players and for Bridlington Town.
The message is come along to Bridlington on Tuesday night, come and show the players that we're all right behind them.
They've they've made a bold statement and said, it doesn't matter where we play football, we're gonna play football for Scarborough, win a few football matches and, and that is what they're gonna do.
So we need to turn up in numbers, show them some support, and show Bridlington some support as well.
The stands have been spruced up. We've put in segregation. We're currently putting in turnstiles for away supporters. So you will see some differences.
If people are worried about food and drink, there's now a beer garden behind the home goal. There's food and drink outlets popping up all around the ground.
Every time we go there, they seem to have built a new bar. So, Our supporters are gonna be very well looked after.
The game gets underway at 7:45pm if you have a really good excuse for not being able to get to tonight's game then there will be commentary on This is the Coast Extra from just before kick off.
