Alison Hume says she's been busy with surgeries and meetings in her first year as an MP.
The Labour representative is the first-ever female MP in the constituency.
She was elected in July 2024 as Kier Starmer's party swept to power.
Alison says she's being kept busy:
"We are welcoming in constituents on a regular basis and including advice surgeries. The sighting of the office opposite the Stephen Joseph Theatre and the railway station has been very well received by constituents and I'm now pleased to say that I'm fully-staffed. Over the last six months, we've opened 4,000 cases and closed 5,300. Some of those cases will be very simple email inquiries. Others will be very complicated pieces of case work that take months to resolve, as I'm sure councillors will know from your own experience. But you can see from the workload it's a considerable workload."
She says meetings with local residents have been useful:
" So in the last six months, I've held eight advice surgeries in Scarborough, Whitby and the villages. As I mentioned last time, it was my pledge to constituents to go and see them where they live. So the last one was held in Staithes and that was successful.
"I've also held three Ask Allison public meetings. This is an opportunity for constituents to come and talk to me and raise their concerns on particular issues."
