Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Land Rover Goes to Auction

The volunteer rescue service's retired emergency vehicle will be going to auction at the Bangers and Cash TV auction house next month.

The 2005 Land Rover Defender 110 TD5, previously used by the Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue services, will be going up for auction on February 5th, 2025 at Mathewsons. The vehicle, lot number 216, served as a mountain rescue ambulance and boasts a detailed service history.

The auction house say that the well-maintained Defender has been serviced annually and underwent a safety inspection every three months. It has 65,280 miles on the clock and comes equipped with a range of features suited to its demanding former role.

Highlights include:

  • County Station Wagon body style
  • Five seats (originally a nine-seater)
  • Heated front seats
  • Working lights, scene lights, and driving lights
  • Suspension lift
  • Auxiliary battery with split charging
  • Spare wheel and carrier
  • Patriot roof rack
  • Rear window guards

While the Mountain Rescue logo and team name will be removed prior to the sale, the new owner will be responsible for changing the registration and removing any blue lights and sirens if it is not going to be used as an ambulance.

The Defender is being sold "as seen" with an estimated price of £10,000 - £12,000.

Mathewsons encourages prospective buyers to view the vehicle in person before the auction, as photos and videos might not provide a complete representation of its condition. The viewing period is scheduled from Monday, January 27th to Tuesday, February 4th, 2025.
