Whitby Town Council is to take steps to make sure local residents are made aware of scams targetting people living in the town.
The increasing number of scams being targetted on local people has lead Whitby Town council to start a campaign to raise awareness of the issues.
Town Mayor Councillor Linda Wild says she was targetted by three scams in one day.
Councillors say they are concerned about vulnerable people in the town falling victim to scammers.
Councillor Lee Derrick says the scams are becoming more sophisticated.
The Town Council is to investigate ways of spreading the message about scams which could include a social media campaign and leaflet drop.
