Scalby Juniors Football Club are completing their 3 kilometre 'jumpers for goalposts' route along Scarborough seafront on Saturday.
Participants are wearing their favourite Christmas jumpers and taking on the route from the Sealife Centre, past the Open Air Theatre, and back along the promenade.
The event aims to raise £2,000 towards the cost of new goalposts.
Over the past six months, Scalby Juniors has expanded from five to nine teams- and now supports 130 children from diverse backgrounds.
One of the club's fundraisers is Stewart Ward:
"So we've been on looking at our quality of our goalposts. They're starting to get into a bit of disrepair, so we've been looking at different options for how we can raise money slash get funding for getting new ones in that kind of exploration, we found out that it cost, it would cost us around about £5,000 for two sets of goals.
"Two different age groups, which is obviously a lot of money for a small club like we are. So yeah, so we came up with the idea of coming up with a fundraising event called Jumpers for Goalposts. So the idea behind that is that we would all wear like a Christmas jumper and come up with a a fundraising event where we run for three kilometres around the north face of Scarborough."
Stewart admitted some might find the distance harder than others:
" I think the kids are all right with it. It'll be the parents that might struggle a little bit. So we've tailored it for different levels of ability. 'cause obviously at the club we have kids in from under sevens up to under fifteens. The under sevens will be running slash walking and will be taking it.
"In a more gradual pace, whereas the older ones will be actually running the three kilometres. But yeah, so yeah, the levels of ability, of course, will be a range of different abilities. I'm sure there'll be a few people puffing along as we're going along, and it'd be great to see other people cheering us as we're going along the way."
